Planning Supervisor Services

The Construction (Design and Management) (Amendment) Regulations 2000 place duties on clients to ensure that competent persons are employed on construction projects.

Whilst predominantly focused on the construction industry, it does in fact apply to a number of sectors and in real terms if you are carrying out any of the following activities you may fall under the requirements of the Construction (Design & Management) Regulations.
estimated annual cost to society through accidents and ill health is £11 to £16 billion Demolition and dismantling
25 million working days are lost annually Building, civil engineering or engineering construction work
25000 people are forced to give up work through injury Installation, commissioning, decommissioning or dismantling of any fixed plant
Uninsured losses amount to £315 per employee Associated preparations, cleaning, maintenance (including repair, renovation, upkeep and redecoration)
accidents account for 37% of profits Exploratory work in preparation for construction, including investigation work
accidents account for 37% of profits Construction of temporary structures used during construction work *(formwork, scaffold etc.)

In an ideal world it would be simple to say that if you were carrying out one of the above activities then CDM would apply, however this may not be the case, as other criteria need to be applied in the majority of cases.
